SEPTEMBER 2000

• I just added a new Discussion Board to this site finally!
  Feel free to post away! While it isn't my own board,
  it will do until I can finally learn how to make one.

• I have not done a review this week, but I did notice that Pete's QBasic Site
  did a review of a game that I already reviewed here.

• Site Updates:
  • Lutasarts: The creator of PebbleDash is
    coming back to program the complete version 2.0 of the game. Apparantly a lot of people
    have downloaded it from download.com already,
    and they all expect more. 50 levels in the completed version? Can't wait!

  • QBasic News: Well, there is a bit of info here.
    Basically, QQN might host the QB Olympics 2001! Might this be another QB Expo?
    Will more people be involved? It sounds like fun either way.

  • Master Creating: All I know
    is that they are promising a huge update...just have to wait and see.

• I reviewed Hyper Velocity Racing by Vral.
  Check it out, and I hope to have another review soon.

  Still, there is no new issue of the QB Cult Magazine, but

• Pete's QBasic Site finally put the review of
  my PacMan game back up. Check it out here.

• Lutasarts did a major update recently.
  New review, new game by Keiko, and more coming soon.

• A really well written article on RPG design can be found at QBasic News.
  It is called "How to Make Your RPG Not Suck" by FrozenEmu.

• I haven't updated much recently, and I want to apologize. Of course most of my
  update info comes from other sites. Most other sites don't have much info being updated.
  Maybe that is just a cop out but I can't put up info that isn't there.

• I added a review of WetSpot 2.
  I also added a link to my links page. Although VirtuaSoft's site is kind of outdated,
  it is home to the Dash library. I figure that it is important in that.

• Future Software and QBasic News are DOWN!!!
  The two major players in the QBasic scene are hosted on the same server, which appears
  to be having problems throughout most of yesterday. Hopefully
  the two sites will come back online soon.
  

  LAST MINUTE UPDATE: Both sites were operating nicely as if nothing happened.
  Just as I updated too.

• I have been busy with homework and class and such. Updates
  will be few and far between unless I can find more time more often.

• I have recently discovered some extra coding techniques at VirtuaSoft.
  There are some really good tutorials there.

• For all of you who have asked me to do the graphics for
  their respective games, email me if you
  would like to know how the progress is coming along.
  I have been mostly working on only one of the projects, and
  my computer in my dorm stinks so I am not very comfortable
  using it. I might just try to work on these things on weekends
  when I am at home with my nice computer.

• I reviewed three games since the last update.
  Day of the PIdiot, a puzzle game by JdR and the classic Spinball by Eric Carr were added to my reviews list, making my review total 16.

  Last minute review: The ARC Network, Abstract Productions' sequel to
  The ARC Legacy is a demo being displayed at the QB Expo.
  Review total: 17

• I had my 400th hit! I don't believe I will break my record
  for last month at this rate, but perhaps I might be able to pull
  something off.

• I have had a chance to play a few games from the Expo.
  Unfortunately, the computer I am using in my dorm room
  is of such quality that nothing can possibly run decently on it.
  I feel like I am running on 2MB of RAM!

• I added a review of JdR-PacMan.
  I was surprised that I had not played this game earlier. It brings my review total to 14.

• I am thinking about upgrading my membership here at eWebCity to Premium. I received an email
  from someone who has such a membership who says that she finds it quite worth the money.

• I am still looking into the ASP code for a message board...

  I am in college now. Classes started yesterday, and I might not have the time to
  update this site as much as I used to.

• Lutasarts announces his QBasic retirement.
  He stated that he has one more project in QBasic, but then he will concentrate on
  other pursuits. He intends on passing on the site to his brother, Keiko, who
  has made a few games himself. Check it out in QB Scene.

• AlienQB is also leaving the QBasic scene. He is going to pursue C++ programming.
  Check out the article in QNN's news articles.

• Neozones has updated its site.
  It has a new look, but will it be enough to make it a premium site again?

• Pete's QBasic Site has been remodeled
  too (are things this week suppose to happen in twos?).

• DS4QB v1.00 has been made. It basically allows QBasic games running in Windows
  to use Windows' Direct Sound. Shortly afterwards, it was updated to v2.00 and
  is opening up the possibilities of using other otherwise Windows-only DirectX processes.
  Check out Future Software's message board for more info.

• I reviewed PebbleDash by Lutasarts.
  I also intend to review a few more games this week.

• The QB Expo finally opened!
  While it is difficult to navigate through, and you start getting annoyed
  with entire HTML documents dedicated to almost nothing
  as well as some broken links here and there,
  you will find lots of interesting info and games.
  Some bits of info to tide you until you check it out:
  • Dark Ages I has been revamped! I find this to be
    some amazing news, even though I just reviewed the first edition.
  • There are Challenge Points that you can earn by finding
    certain things in the Expo. I found one, but I can't say more than that.
  • Some games reviewed here have booths or characters in the Expo,
    such as Ultimate Super Stack,Pac-Clone 2, and others.
  • There are two RPG Palaces, so expect a few quality RPGs.
  So basically, check out the Expo! A lot of effort and
  collaboration went into this, and it would be a shame
  if it went to waste.

• I reviewed Dark Ages I: The Continents. A classic game in QBasic history and one that everyone should have.

• eWebCity was having difficulties, so my site was down for most of yesterday.
  I wanted to have an update for the 1st of the month
  but I will have to settle for 2nd.

• I will soon have my own message board here.
  While I don't expect it to become incredibly popular,
  I think that it will add some more options to this site.
  Keep your eyes open for it.

• I added my 20th link to my LINKS PAGE!
  Soon I will make that page a little more streamlined.
