| Basically, get to the farthest level, possibly beating the game! | |
| From the way the game looks and acts like Sonic, this game
is a very good QBasic game. The levels are not designed too well in that there
are small spots that you need to land on that are only the width of Spinball.
While this wouldn't normally be a problem, in order to make such landings, you have to be used to the controls. Being that they utilize CTRL, ALT, and Shift, they are not
intuitive. I found it pretty cool that there is a password system. I also liked the POOR cheat, which allows you to have 90 rings if you need them. The main enemies are not easy to attack. In Sonic you could spin in place and hit them. There is one enemy you have to jump on top of. Unfortunately, you get hurt also. I found it quite annoying. I had almost no indication that I was hurting the guy either. Overall, this game could have used some work, but was nicely done nonetheless. |

| While the entire screen is used, the action takes place in a window. It makes up for the small size with pixel by pixel scrolling and fluid movement. I found the graphics were a strong point. There was plenty of animation, and the death scenes were animated also. Well done. | |
| AH!!!!! There are no options to use your own configuration. I found the controls to be rather unintuitive. I had to try to move my keyboard around to see if I could simulate some kind of control pad. In the end I found that one hand on shift and the other on CTRL and ALT to work better...if you have a Windows key and you are running the game in Windows, don't. It is frustrating to accidentally open up the Start menu, only to find that when you get back to the game that Spinball died somehow. I found the controls to be less than best. Once you do get used to them (and even then you won't be) the game can be a little easier to play. It is still frustrating to want to jump somewhere only to find that you aren't moving because you are pressing the keys accidentally. | |
| PC speakers. Done well. No music, but there are sound effects.
I liked it how the game actually gives a short little tune when you die. The sounds were decent to good. | |
| Very challenging. If it weren't for the jumps and the somewhat mazelike qualities of the levels, the controls would be the only obstacle. I found the game terribly hard to play. The passwords and cheat codes are VERY helpful! | |
| I would have had a lot more fun if there was more action than getting Spinball from Point A to Point B. Barely any enemies. The controls were not as good as I would have liked them, and they greatly diminished the fun of this game. | |
| Well, I have said it already. While the game looks very good and is designed somewhat nicely, the controls are not as great. This is an action game and it requires nice controls. This game handles better than most games like it, but the controls need work. That said, I found this game to be truly enjoyable, and suggest it as a good download. | |
