| Try to trap the stars using the objects in the game. Watch out for the special objects that might get in the way! | |
| The idea is simple: using two like objects, try to capture
as many stars as possible. Of course, as with many puzzle games, just
knowing how to play is not enough. Mastery of the game is difficult. This game has many options that you would expect to find in a professional game. I showed a lot of my friends at work, and they all expressed surprise that QBasic could be powerful enough to make that game. Anyway, you can play the many different levels (three difficulty levels and one tutorial), play until you lose, or create your own custom game. As for the game play itself, it was a simple design that was implemented well. I found that with all of the options, including customized controls, there was no sound option. Besides that, there is nothing to complain about, although 2-player options would be nice, but I won't ask for too much! |

| Graphically, this game did a lot. I saw scaling, bouncing,
twirling, and fading, with no flicker and no slowdown. The graphics were kind of
simple looking individually, but when you put it all together, they worked
well together. Sparkles from the stars and spinning objects along with the
wizard (very cool). The entire game was graphically rich. The main problem was that sometimes the graphics got in the way. When I was playing on one of the Crazy levels, sometimes the next two objects would fall in before the sparkles and such were done. I almost didn't notice that I was going to lose them! Besides that, I would like to give two thumbs up! Of course, since we don't use thumbs here, I gave it a percentage.
| Easy to play, tough to master. The game design made the second
part come true, but the play control tells you about the first.
This game succeeds here also. Basically you move the pieces as if in
Dr. Mario or Tetris, and rotate them. You can also
flip them instead of having to rotate 180 degrees, which adds a little ease to those who can master it.
I had to get used to it once I found out I can do it. I also found that you didn't have to wait for the game. If I lost on a level, I can press Space Bar and continue the game immediately instead of having to wait for some Game Over screen. This ease of use was very nice. I think it helps keep the frustration level down to the game. Users can't complain that the game won't let them start sooner or even have to worry about some annoying repeating message.
| No music, but amazing sound effects. You can tell that a lot of the sounds came from Super Mario World (did I just kick a shell??), but they still made the game very enjoyable. There was no static sound or anything bad about it. Every action had a sound, and when a message bounced on the screen, you heard it. I was wondering what this clapping sound was when I found out that it was a message hitting the side of the screen. Didn't seem like it should make that sound, but I liked it anyway. I give a high percentage to this rating! Excellent work! | |
| Gotta keep playing! Gotta keep playing!
This game was amazing. I almost forgot to review it while I was playing cause I couldn't put it down.
I did manage to make the screen shots and here is the review, so I did manage to pull myself away for awhile. As for how challenging this game is, it is. Quite challenging. At least when you play the harder difficulty levels. Easy is easy. Hard is hard. Crazy sometimes seems impossible, but it can be done (I did, doing almost nothing else but playing). Excellent job here of researching the different levels. They are not just randomly put together. A lot of care went into them. I almost forgot that QBasic had anything to do with this!
| Did I say it enough? This game is amazing! I had so much fun playing it. The entire game was really well done, and I am glad that I had the chance to actually play it. | |
| Really good game. Well designed, well drawn, well composed, well planned. I do not have many complaints, although a sound option would have been a good compliment. If another sequel comes out, 2-players would be awesome! | |
