| Sumo wrestling is a popular sport in Japan. The object is to push your opponent out of the circle. | |
| There are plenty of options in this game. There is exhibition,
tournament, and VS mode, which is two players. There is even a demo, where two computer controlled characters
fight against each other. There are multiple characters, which are unlocked by playing through the game. There is a high scores list for those who play through the tournament
mode and get a high enough score. You can use the keyboard or the joystick.
The sound options can be turned on or off. You can also change the skill level. Playing the game, you basically push the opponent out of the circle. This is not as easy as it sounds, but not overly difficult. You can even sort of customize your Sumo wrestler, changing the attributes. I made a super strong but super slow wrestler, and then I made a really fast and weak one. It was kind of funny to see a sumo running all over the circle while the opponent was just barely walking. Overall this game is designed well. I liked the wealth of options, and the game play is also fun. |

| The graphics are really good. The characters were very cartoonish, and reminded
me of NES' World Cup Soccer. The main arena screen has lots of fans, and
when the wrestlers get tossed out they scale nicely and hit the screen (sort of).
I liked it. The animations were not that great, but they were decent.
I liked the menus at the beginning. The letters bounce when you select a command,
adding a nice touch. Overall, the graphics were really good. The full screen is used, with hardly any "white space". I was pretty much amazed with this game. | |
| Basically, you press the Space Bar to hit and move your wrestler around the circle. You push the opponent out of the circle, and that's that. The special moves are automatic, so they come as a surprise during the match. Still the game is pretty easy to play. | |
| There is MIDI music and sound effects. The music sounds familiar, and I believe someone will be able to figure out where it came from. The sound effects are pretty nice, even during the menu selection. Sound is actually pretty good in this game. | |
| Basically, this game is easy to play, and the challenge comes from fighting stronger wrestlers. I found that max speed is bad for sumo, since all you can do is avoid the other wrestler. I tried to find out if you can kind of get the opponent close to the edge and then run around and push him over, but he basically pushed me back to the other side. So make sure that you have some strength on your side. Of course, the opponents in Tournament mode do get tougher as you go further along. This game has a good challenge level. Doesn't cause frustration to the point that I can't stand it, and it makes the replay value increase cause you just want to keep playing. | |
| This game was a lot of fun. Of course, it might seem a little limited, but what is sumo wrestling but pushing some guy out of a circle? This game actually adds some things, like the attributes and the special moves. As far as this game goes, I could not think of what I could possibly have added to make this any better. I am sure that maybe control of the special moves would have helped. | |
| How good can this game be? Very much so. It is sumo wrestling, which makes you say, "Well, what is so great about that?" Well, this game makes it very great. If people would work on other games with the same quality of this game, QBasic games would be better off. | |
